Dandina N.Rao

Professor Of Petroleum Engineering

Louisiana State University

Dandina N. Rao is Emmett-Wells-Distinguished-Professor in the Craft and Hawkins Department of Petroleum Engineering at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, USA. He has been involved in enhanced oil recovery research and field project implementations for nearly 3 decades. He previously worked as Principal Petroleum Engineer with TRW/BDM Petroleum Technologies (Formerly NIPER) in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; as Staff Research Engineer with Petroleum Recovery Institute in Calgary; and as Research Engineer with Shell Canada. In addition to developing the Gas-Assisted Gravity Drainage (GAGD) Process for enhanced oil recovery, Dr. Rao has invented the HydroFlame process for steam and flue gas generation for heavy oil and bitumen recovery as well as produced water treatment, the dual-drop dual-crystal technique for confident reservoir wettability characterization, and the vanishing interface technique (VIT) for quick and cost-effective gas-oil miscibility determination. He considers the implementation of some of these ideas by producing companies in the oil fields as the most gratifying accomplishment, next only to the successful professional careers of many of his graduate students. Dr. Rao holds a B.Tech with Distinction from India, a M.Sc. from the University of Saskatchewan (Canada) and a Ph.D. from the University of Calgary (Canada). In addition to being member of the Petroleum Society (Canada), SPE, Pi Epsilon Tau, and Sigma Xi, he has served as a member of the Editorial Review Board of the Journal of Canadian Petroleum Technology for over 7 years and as Technical Editor of SPE Journal for 5 years. Dr. Rao has been recognized by the Louisiana State University with the Rainmaker Award given to faculty who are nationally and internationally recognized for innovative research and creative scholarship. In January 2019, Dr. Rao has been elected as Senior Member of US National Academy of Inventors

2019 AGENDA AT A GLANCE

LESSONS LEARNED & STEPS FORWARD

DRIVE DOWN THE ECONOMICS OF OILFIELD WATER MANAGEMENT

Depending on the size & location of operation, water quality and management processes, no two financial equations and margins are alike. In 2019, we look at new, smarter ways to drill down on every dollar operators are spending to reduce the cost of water

RECOGNIZE LOCATION-SPECIFIC NUANCES TO DELIVER BASIN-SPECIFIC SOLUTIONS

This year's agenda is designed to deliver region-specific Regulatory Updates On Water Rights, Reuse, Disposal, Storage And Location-Specific Water Sourcing opportunities and Recycling and Disposal options

REGULATIONS & WATER RIGHTS

Regulations & Water Rights continue to be a pressure point in the industry - how poignant that pressure is entirely based on the region you are in. If you want to fully Understand The Regulatory Environment From Both An Environmental And Industrial Efficiency Perspective, What rules are in place across different operating jurisdictions, what legislation is likely to come into place and what do companies need to do to be on the right side of regulations, then the 2019 Rocky Mountains conference is the place to be.

RECYCLING & REUSE STRATEGIES AND INFRASTRUCTURE

Look at recycling and Reuse Over The Long-Term And Turn It Into A Real Value Proposition to reduce their lease operating expenses. And in a first for the event, this year, we'll examine the most effective Pipeline & Trucking Infrastructure Designs For Moving Water To Recycling Facilities & frac sites

WATER TREATMENT LEVELS & FRAC COMPATIBILITY

How much treatment is just right? What are the specs that you can get the water to and what's the cost? Get answers to key questions in October: What is the Right Amount Of Treatment To Make The Water Good Enough and what is the Optimal Technology To Get The Minimum Requirements needed to execute a water management plan

WATER TREATMENT TECHNOLOGIES TO GET A BETTER QUALITY BARREL

Increasing regulations and public scrutiny is driving the industry to be more innovative in the water treatment space. Hear the very latest case studies on Treatment Technologies That Are Delivering A Higher Quality Barrel While Protecting Operator Margins

PROACTIVE & COST-EFFICIENT DISPOSAL & TAKEAWAY OPTIONS

This year's event looks at Disposal And Takeaway Not As An Afterthought, But As A Vital Part Of Long-Term Planning Process to successfully achieve production goals

ADDRESSING REGION-SPECIFIC WATER SOURCING ISSUES

With sourcing a operator and location dependent issue, this year's agenda also takes a look at Economic Water Sourcing - Find Out Exactly Where You Can Find Fresh Water And How Much It Will Cost

ECONOMIC STORAGE OPTIONS

Learn how operators are constructing & designing Pits, Tanks And Other Storage Options At The Lowest Cost Possible
